    Agree Clay, and also with reference to your broadcast on Tradewinds WebTV, the full and effective funding of national merchant marine academies/colleges as a key element of a national maritime policy must be essential. The internationalisation of seafarers and seafarer training over the last 30 years or so linked to the reducing roles that traditional maritime nations have played in cadet training have largely removed from the sea-going pool of seafarers those committed, highly knowledgeable and experienced individuals who can provide a clear leadership function at sea. The continued commoditization of shipping and its seafarers cannot be healthy
